Erie Chaper of Credit Unions Presents $8,000 in Scholarship Awards
The Erie Chapter of Credit Unions is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 James J. DeDad Scholarship. Six scholarship winners were chosen from 169 entries.

Applicants were asked to write a 500-word essay on the following topic: "One of the most valuable money management lessons is to 'live within your means.' How can you use your credit union to develop healthy financial habits and build financial security?"
The awards will be presented at the Erie Maennerchor Club on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. This year 11 credit unions from the Erie area participated in the scholarship program. The scholarships are named in memory of James J. DeDad, former president of the Erie Chapter of Credit Unions. Since 1995, the scholarship program has awarded a total of $115,000.00

JAMES J. DeDAD SCHOLARSHIP
The James J. DeDad Scholarship program is sponsored by several credit unions in the Erie area. Scholarships are available to participating credit union members between the ages of 17 and 24 who are or will be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in 2010. Scholarships are available to all majors and are not limited to freshman students.
Applying for the scholarship is easy! Applicants are required to:
- Be a credit union member
- Complete an application
- Submit a typewritten 500-word essay
Judging for the scholarship is based on the applicant's credit union knowledge and the ability to communicate their thoughts and ideas through their essay.
The application and essay must be returned to the Credit Union no later than June 11, 2010 to be eligible. Late Applications and Essays will not be accepted.
Entrants are notified of the scholarship results in July. An awards ceremony for the winners will be held August 4, 2010.
