In this turbulent financial market, it’s important that you feel comfortable about your financial institution.  Americo Federal Credit Union continues to provide a safe place for your savings and for your loans. 

We have not been adversely affected by the problems in the mortgage market.  We make sound investments and we continue to have funds available to make prudent loans to creditworthy borrowers.  We do not engage in risky lending practices, in fact our delinquency ratio is less than 1 percent. In addition, we are well capitalized at 13.21 percent, well above the federal regulatory requirement of 7 percent.  

Deposit insurance coverage for credit unions is the same as FDIC insurance for banks.  In response to Friday's passage of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) immediately increased share insurance protection.  Americo Federal Credit Union members' savings funds are federally insured up to at least $250,000 through NCUA's National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, an agency of the federal government.
